HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

There are many areas in the marching band program that could not function without the hard work and dedication of our parent volunteers.  Take a minute to look over the groups below and see what you would like to do.  Just fill in your name and phone number at the bottom of the list and someone will contact you.  Please feel free to choose more than one area.  If both parents are using this form, just put your names by the area(s) of interest.  Need some questions answered??? Call Mrs. Reinhart at the band office 772-4700 ext. 2892.

COMPETITION DAY/FOOTBALL GAME DUTY – This involves being in the uniform room to help the marchers with any problems that they might have, staying by the trailer at competitions to help, and making sure that all the uniforms are returned to the uniform room after a competition/game.  Depending on the number of volunteers, you may or may not need to be at each event.

Can’t be that involved?  They have other needs.

UNIFORM REPAIRS – This would involve minor repairs and hemming of pants.

UNIFORM FITTING – This takes place during the summer and is usually done while the kids are having practice.  You will help fit the uniform, hats, and shoes.

PIT CREW

COMPETITION DAY/FOOTBALL GAME DUTY – For football games, this involves being available to haul equipment to the football field and back to the school.  On competition days this involves helping load the trailer, helping to unload the trailer at the contest site, haul the equipment to the field, load it back up and then unload when you get to the school.  Sounds like a lot of work but this dedicated group has a great time (If you have a younger child that will need to be with you during the day, this job won’t work).

CONSTRUCTION CREW

PROP CONSTURCTION – This involves helping with the construction of the props that are used for the show.  Usually work is done in the evenings and on Saturdays.  You don’t have to be an engineer, just willing to paint, hammer, and follow directions.  This group also helps out on “extra” projects that Mr. Barker comes up with.

CHAPERONES

COMPETITION CHAPERONES – This group of volunteers must possess the following characteristics:  attendance taking skills, the ability to solve minor problems, knowing when enough is enough, more common sense than a teenager, the ability to follow a chain of command and the desire to ride a school bus throughout the state.  We try to use volunteers that are available for each competition.  That way, you get to know the kids on your bus and they get to know you.  Once we see how many people volunteer for this position, we will know if we are able to use people that are only available on occasion.

COMPETITION CHAPERONE SUBSTITUTE – Not able to go to every competition?  There are times when one of the “regular” chaperones cannot go so we will need a few substitutes to call on.

STAR CITY VOLUNTEER

STAR CITY CHAIRPERSON – This would involve work before the actual day

STAR CITY WORKER – This involves a variety of jobs.  The date for Star City this year is September 12, 2009.  Star city committee chairpersons will give you a call and let you know what is available.  We need everyone’s help.  The “people” power to put on this event is tremendous.

CAR WASH SUPERVISOR

SUPERVISOR – This involves one day in June supervising the students at the annual car wash.  We need 2 adults per location.  Not a lot of work; just supervise kids with hoses and buckets of water!!

GENERAL VOLUNTEER

GENERAL HELPER – There are several times when we need help for just an evening or for a special event.  If you would be willing to help with some odd jobs, this is the area for you.
