Lynn Colwell
 |
Low-Brass
Lynn Colwell is in great demand as a private instructor and performer on trombone, baritone, tuba, electric and acoustic bass. Mr. Colwell has a BA degree from Purdue University in Russian Language. He was in the United States Marine Corps, serving with the FMF PAC Field Band in Hawaii. Mr. Colwell also toured Japan and China with the Purdue Jazz Band. He is the founder of Los Blancos, the popular local Latin-American jazz band, and plays with many local groups, including the Lafayette Symphony and Lafayette Citizens Band.

Celeste Edwards

Flute
Mrs. Harnick is a professional flautist living in Lafayette. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in flute performance. The groups in which she performs include the Lafayette Citizens Band and Lafayette Flute Choir. She maintains a very active private teaching schedule and teaches at several area schools.

Stephanie Garner

Saxophone
Miss Garner received her Bachelor of Music degree from Ball State University. She presently has her own teaching studio working with woodwinds and the fife. She is a member of the Tippecanoe Ancient Fife and Drum Corps. Ms. Garner privately teaches clarinets and saxophones.

Linda Kussman

Flute
Linda Kussman grew up in the Lafayette area. After graduating from Harrison High School she accepted a music scholarship to North Park University in Chicago. Music opportunities there included band, orchestra and ensemble tours throughout the United States, as well as Germany and Scandinavia. She received her B.A. in psychology and has found that classes such as "Learning and Memory," "Child Development," and "Adolescent Behavior" are very helpful in the teaching arena! She has been giving private flute lessons since 1987, first in the Minneapolis area and in Lafayette since 1995. Locally she plays with the Lafayette Flute Choir, Lafayette Citizen's Band and at her church. Linda is married to Todd and they have three children.

Lorin Lemme

Percussion
Mr. Lemme is a professional percussionist in central Indiana. He teaches privately and at many local schools, including Sunnyside, Jefferson, Tecumseh, McCutcheon and Harrison. Mr. Lemme studied music business at Millikin University and is a Jefferson High School graduate. He performs and records with many different musical ensembles. Recently married, Mr. Lemme now resides in Indianapolis.

Beth Purkhiser

Clarinet/Saxophone
Beth Purkhiser received her Bachelors from Indiana University and her Masters from Arizona State University - both degrees in saxophone performance with secondary study on clarinet. She is a professional musician who plays with various groups including the Citizens Band and the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra. She maintains a large woodwind studio, teaches at several area schools and is the Saxophone and Clarinet Instructor at Wabash College.

Marilyn Renner

Horn
Marilyn Renner is in her 32nd year of teaching. She holds degrees in Music Education from Quincy University and the University of Illinois. Ms. Renner is a Past-President of the Indiana Bandmaster's Association and current Indiana State Chair for the Woman Band Directors International. Ms. Renner is currently developing a band program in the Catholic Schools of Lafayette, serves as adjunct faculty at Ivy Tech State University, and is on the sectional staff for Lafayette School Corporation. Ms. Renner maintains a brass studio as well as performing with several local groups including the Big Swing Band and the Lafayette Citizens Band.
